PAS 128 Utility Survey

The survey work shall be carried out in accordance with the best accepted current practice and in accordance with the requirements of PAS 128:2014 – Specification for underground utility detection, verification, and location.

  • Also known as Utility Surveys or GPR Surveys, these surveys are essential in:
Detection, positioning and identification of buried pipes and cables beneath the ground.
  • As our utility surveys combine the techniques of cover lifting, Radio Frequency/Electromagnetic Location (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR); we can easily detect and map metal pipes, plastic pipes, electricity cables, drainage systems, telecoms, traffic signaling, and fiber optic cables.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR Survey) is a non-intrusive technique used to image the subsurface. Multi-frequency (200 to 600 MHz) and multi-polarization antennas.

The multiple frequency antennas will allow detection of shallow, small diameter services, but also services buried at depth. Furthermore, the detection of voids or any buried obstructions shall be noted. It works by transmitting an electromagnetic pulse/signal into the ground, and recording the strength and time required for the return of the signals from the various materials underneath.

Our Underground Utility Surveys can be used for:
• Detecting metallic and non-metallic services
• Full utility detection and mapping
• Subsurface/geophysical investigations
• Void detection/location
• Past site occupancy surveys
• Single service tracking
• Buried tank or reservoir location
• Location of large, buried objects.
• Concrete scanning
